Zetifi Marshal, privacy policy

1. Who we are

Zetifi Marshal (“the app”) is published by Zetifi Pty Ltd (“Zetifi”, “we”, “us”), ABN 98 621 129 244, C/- Navigate Advisors, 63 Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650, Australia.

This policy explains what the app collects, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It is written for the person using the app.

2. Who controls your information

For this app, Zetifi is the controller of your information. You sign up directly with us, and your information is held on systems we operate in Australia, other than notifications, which pass through the United States. This is different from Zetifi’s Microsoft 365 product, where an employer holds and controls the data.

If you join a team that someone else runs, they can see what the app shows them about you, and they decide the team’s settings. What they do with what they see is their responsibility, not ours.

3. What we collect, and why

Information Why
Your location, including in the background if you allow it To put your position on an SOS and on a check-in, and to show your dot to your team while you are sharing
Your email address Your account and your sign-in
Your name So your team knows who you are
Your profile photo, if you set one Your picture on the map and in the roster
Your nominated contact’s mobile number, and your own So an SOS can send that person a text. It cannot be your own number: the point is that somebody else knows
Your account identifier and your device’s notification token To tie your records to your account and to deliver notifications
What you do in the app: check-ins, SOS events, team and item names, places you save This is the product
Tracking account credentials, only if you connect one To show your own vehicles or equipment on your map

We do not collect your address book, your health or fitness data, your financial information, your browsing or search history, or any advertising identifier. We do not run ads. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not track you across other apps or companies.

We do not collect crash or performance diagnostics today. If that changes, this policy changes first.

4. Background location

The app asks for permission to use your location “Always”, in the background, because two things need it while your phone is locked or the app is closed:

  1. SOS. If you hold the button, your alert should carry where you are.
  2. Sharing with your team. While you are sharing, your dot keeps updating so your team can see you.

You are shown what this is for before the app asks. You can say no, and the app still works with location only while it is open. You can change your mind in your device settings at any time.

5. The person you nominate

Your safety contact has to be somebody other than you, and they have to have a mobile number, because the whole point is that when you cannot speak for yourself somebody else hears about it.

That means we hold a phone number belonging to a person who is not using the app and did not give it to us themselves. So the first thing we do with it is text them: who nominated them, what it means, and a link to agree or decline. If they decline, or stop the messages later, we tell you, and the app’s SOS and check-in buttons go away until you nominate somebody else. A button that reaches nobody is worse than no button.

We never use their number for anything else, and we never email them.

6. Who sees your information

We may also have to disclose something where the law requires it.

7. Where it is held, and for how long

Everything the app stores is held in Amazon Web Services in Sydney, Australia.

8. Safety, and what this app is not

The app alerts the people you have told it to alert. It does not contact emergency services, and it is not a monitored service. Nobody at Zetifi is watching a screen waiting for your SOS. If you need emergency help, call 000.

Messages depend on your phone, your connection, and networks we do not control. If you have no connection, the app holds an SOS and sends it when you are back online, and it tells you it has done so.

9. How we protect it

No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.

10. Delete your account

You can delete your account at any time, free, from inside the app: open your account sheet and choose Delete account.

That deletes your profile, your location history, your check-ins, your safety events, your items, your places, any tracking account you connected, your nominated contact’s details, and your team memberships. It cannot be undone.

If you cannot get into the app, email support@zetifi.com with the subject “Delete my account” from the email address you signed up with. We will delete it and confirm when it is done. You do not need an account or a login to make this request.

What we keep after deletion: the signed safety-signal records described in section 7, which expire on their own, and any text already sent to your contact, which we cannot unsend.

11. Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email support@zetifi.com. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, and you can complain to your local privacy regulator, which in Australia is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

12. Children

The app is for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

13. Changes

If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date below. If a change affects how your information is handled, we will tell you in the app.
